Cupcake lawsuit.

Sprinkles Cupcakes doesn’t like when you mess with their dots.

Sprinkles, a well-known company much beloved by celebrities such as Oprah, is suing Famous Cupcakes for using a dot design on their website. Sprinkles has apparently trademarked this concentric dot-within-a-dot design for themselves, and although they only use these dots on their cupcakes… they’ve decided that Famous Cupcakes has infringed on this by using dots on their site.

Famous Cupcakes has not responded to the call to remove the dots, probably infuriating Sprinkles further. I can’t believe I just used a phrase like “infuriating sprinkles further.” As an artist, I totally understand how aggravating it can be when someone steals something that belongs to you. But… dots?! Dots don’t really belong to anyone, do they?

My question is, if this isn’t about cupcakes at all, and just about the bullseye/dot trademark infringement… why aren’t they suing Target too?
