“Turkey for you, turkey for me.”

November 27, 2008

Happy Thanksgiving (aka rape, plunder and pillage Indians day) to all you fellow Americans out there!  Yeah, its a day thats been twisted to glorify the Pilgrims who amounted to nothing more than intolerant, murderous religious fanatics, but I have to say, I do love me the Macy*s Thanksgiving day parade. And who doesn’t love an errant massive balloon that goes off and knocks over a lamppost nearly killing tourists?

This may not seem like it has anything to do with today but… remember when Saturday Night Live was funny? I know some of you may be too young to remember such a thing but even after the era of Chevy Chase, the late Mr. Belushi and Gilda Radner was over, there was a really funny span of time during the early 90’s when SNL was funny again. Like, stomach-cramping funny. It included Chris Farley, Phil Hartman, Mike Myers, Dana Carvey, Kevin Nealon. And Adam Sandler, too, was a large part of that crew. Nowadays the funniest thing about SNL is Amy Poehler … oh and Sarah Palin imitations by Tina Fey (who isn’t even really ON SNL anymore), and thats all over because the election is done. But anyway around here Adam Sandler’s Thanksgiving song is always played as soon as the beginning of November arrives, just as his three Hanukkah songs are played when its that time of year. I linked to it for those of you unfamiliar with this ditty about turkey and pop-culture, but just in case you can’t get the words here are the lyrics.

So enough rambling… here are my Thanksgiving cupcakes, with lil turkey and pilgrim vintage toppers. The recipe can be found here, except I used a plain dark chocolate frosting on these.  Sorry for the not-so-great picture, I was lazy. And I know, I’ve been cooking and baking up a storm lately, and NONE of it has been cupcakes! I’m aware of the irony. So here are your cupcakes- this will tide you over until I make a new recipe in the next week or so. Gobble Gobble!

  1. It’s really very complicated in this full of activity
life to listen news on TV, thus I only use web for
that purpose, and take the most recent information.

  2. Hmm it looks like your site ate my first comment (it was super long) so I guess I’ll just sum it
up what I had written and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your
blog. I as well am an aspiring blog writer but I’m still
new to the whole thing. Do you have any tips and
hints for rookie blog writers? I’d definitely appreciate it.

  7. I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)

  8. Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.

  9. Amazing! This blog looks just like my old one!
It’s on a completely different subject but it has pretty
much the same page layout and design. Superb choice
    of colors!
