Donation time: Soldier’s Angels.

Like I said last month, and the month before, and the months before that, on the second of every month this year, I’m going to be asking you, my loyal readers, to do something. It’s nothing that will drastically change your life in any way, or your financial situation, but it will help others. And potentially, in some cases help to save a life, to bring people together, or to provide soldiers with things they need and things that will comfort them in war zones. Which is what this month’s charity will do.

Every month in 2010, as you can see here, my GENEROUS & BIG HEARTED friend Yoyo is donating 100% of one days’ profits in her webstore to a different charity. January was the Villalobos Rescue Center, February was the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program, March was Mollie’s Fund, April was Let’s Bring ‘Em Home at LBEH.org and this month it’s Soldier’s Angels. Soldier’s Angels is an organization that provides “adopters” with soldier “adoptees” to send packages and letters to while stationed far away from home. They send care packages themselves and accept donations as well, here’s more from their website:

To date, our volunteers have sent hundreds of thousands of care packages and letters to deployed service members; we have supplied the wounded with our First Response Packs directly at the Combat Support Hospitals in Iraq and Afghanistan and the major military hospital in Germany, as well as provided care and comfort to those in stateside military and VA facilities; we have provided emergency aid to military families in need; we have partnered with the Department of Defense to provide voice-controlled/adaptive laptops to nearly 3,000 severely-wounded servicemembers, as well as other technology that supports rehabilitation; we have provided flights to soldiers on leave or in emergency situations, and to their families wanting to be with them upon return from overseas; we have provided Level III KEVLAR armored blankets to give personnel extra protection in their vehicles when it was needed; we help to honor and uphold the families whose loved ones have paid the ultimate price for our freedom and safety. With the assistance of our generous supporters , the many volunteers of Soldiers’ Angels have accomplished this and much, much more on behalf of the grateful citizens of the United States of America.

So again, what am I asking of you?

I’m asking you to buy something from TOPSTITCH on May 2nd. That’s this SUNDAY. You have two whole days to prepare, and then once Sunday comes, you have a whole 24 hours to make a purchase. It doesn’t have to be a big purchase… even a small $2.00 order can mean a lot to an organization that needs money to help people who need it. So go check out what TOPSTITCH has to offer and then on Sunday, don’t forget to go back and buy something! Recently Yoyo has added a ton of new merchandise to her store- pouches, mini-pouches, key fobs, wristlets, APRONS, even catnip toys for your kitty! Everything is very well made and even better, made with love. The bigger pouches are great for carrying your makeup in your bag everyday or for using as a small purse to just run to the store with, and the smaller pouches are the perfect size for  personal items & “unmentionables.” Although the small ones can also fit a camera or iPod too. I definitely have been making my contributions each month. So should you. She has plenty of affordable items, and they’re all one-of-a-kind and well made. So please think about contributing to this cause and in return getting an awesome handmade item! What could be better than helping people and getting something unique in return?

And don’t just shop at TOPSTITCH today, shop there everyday.

Yeah they’re a wonderful organization… I’m so proud that each month Yoyo does this. She’s awesome. I believe she said that she adopted a soldier through them.
