….

So Military Monday rolls around again. Every week since I’ve started doing my Military Monday posts almost a year ago, I’ve wished that at some point I’d run out of names. It saddens me to know we’ve lost all these young lives in such a senseless way.

This week’s Military Monday is especially important to me, because I recently discovered that my great-great-great-grandfather on my mother’s paternal side, fought in Company A of the 54th Infantry Regiment of New York, known as the “Barney Black Rifles” or “Schwarze Yaeger” in the Civil War. He came to America in 1859 and enlisted in 1861 into this unit comprised of all German immigrant New Yorkers, to fight for the Union. Surreal. And it just so happens this unit fought in some of the most famous and bloody battles of the war- Gettysburg, Chancellorsville and Bull Run to name a few. There’s also a monument for them at Gettysburg. Needless to say this is shocking and fascinating news to me, and it’s filled me with pride. However let’s remember- he was lucky enough to be mustered out in 1866 and be married, father children, and live to be almost 80. Not all the men involved were as lucky. War is war, and loss of life is loss of life. I know it’s a crazy thought, but hopefully someday human beings will be so evolved, they’ll be above the concept of war, and we never have to lose another man or woman to any “cause,” no matter how noble.

  1. I’ve been surfing online more than 3 hours today, but I by no means discovered any fascinating article like yours.
It’s lovely value enough for me. In my view, if all site owners and bloggers made good
content as you did, the net will be a lot more useful than ever before.

  2. The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.

  3. I would like to consider the chance of saying thanks to you for that professional instruction I have often enjoyed viewing your site.
I will be looking forward to the actual commencement of
my school research and the complete groundwork
would never have been complete without consulting this site.
If I could be of any help to others, I’d be thankful to help by way
of what I have discovered from here.

  4. I think this is one of the most vital info for me. And i am glad
reading your article. But wanna remark on some general things, The site
style is ideal, the articles is really nice :
    D. Good job, cheers

  5. Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It’s very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.

  6. I believe that is one of the most significant info for me.
And i am glad reading your article. However wanna
commentary on some common things, The web site style is wonderful, the articles
is in point of fact great : D. Good job, cheers

  7. You really make it appear really easy along with your presentation however I find this matter to be really
something that I think I’d never understand. It sort of feels too
complex and extremely extensive for me. I am having a look ahead
in your next submit, I will attempt to get the cling of it!

  8. Asking questions are really good thing if you are not understanding anything
totally, but this article provides pleasant understanding yet.

  9. Excellent post. I was checking constantly this blog and I’m inspired!
Very useful info specially the ultimate section 🙂 I deal with such
information a lot. I was looking for this certain info
for a very lengthy time. Thank you and best of luck.
